Dr. Myles Yang is a FAA-Certificated Gold Seal Flight Instructor (CFI), Certificated Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII), Multi-Engine Flight Instructor (MEI); Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI). He is currently instructing at Murfreesboro Aviation. Dr. Yang leverages his extensive college teaching experience to enhance both ground and flight instruction, ensuring that students not only perform maneuvers but also understand the underlying concepts in flight training. Yang also hold a commercial drone pilot certificate. 


As a college educator and a musician, he taught at Middle Tennessee State University and Columbus State University. He also served as the associate instructor at Indiana University Bloomington for four years where he earned his Doctorate degree in Music Literature and Performance with two minors in Music Theory and Education. Besides his DM degree from Indiana University, he earned his Master's degree from Yale University and Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University. His primary teachers included William Ludwig, Kathleen McLean, Frank Morelli, and Wendy Rose. 

Beside his faculty positions at Middle Tennessee State University and Columbus State University, he also taught masterclasses at University of Kentucky, University of South Carolina, University of Alabama, Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), University of Central Florida, Appalachian State University, Illinois State University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Northern Iowa, University of Wisconsin–Platteville, Stephen F. Austin State University, Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico.


As a soloist, he recently premiered a double bassoon concerto with Kathleen McLean and Thailand Philharmonic on the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) conference opening gala concert 2023. He was the First Prize winner at the IDRS Young Artist Bassoon Competition held at the University of Redlands, California in June 2013. He was one of the three winners in the WMU School of Music both 54th and 56th Annual Concerto Competition. His performance of Mozart bassoon concerto in B-flat major and Hummel bassoon concerto in F major with university orchestra were both broadcasted by National Public Radio Station (WMUK). He also performed Concerto in e minor by Vivaldi at the IDRS conference 2013. He became a member of the International Double Reed Society in 2013 and he was invited to become a member of Pi Kappa Lambda (National Music Honor Society) in April 2016.


In his orchestra career, Yang was the principal bassoon with Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Georgia (the second oldest orchestra in the US); principal bassoon with Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Iowa. He also held the second bassoon position with Lansing Symphony, Michigan, Tennessee Philharmonic Symphony and Acting second with Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Indiana. In 2022, he toured with Puerto Rico International Chamber Orchestra. Many of his orchestra performances were live-streamed internationally through CBS and other television / online channels. He also recorded movie music, library music and game music including Ubisoft.


Yang is a scholarly arranger and editor of modern performing editions and creates new solo repertoire for the bassoon. He arranged all eight Mozart wind concertos for bassoon and was published by Potenza Music. Yang was a founding staff member of the National Youth Orchestra – China. He worked as the orchestra manager for many years and led hundreds young musicians performing around the world.
